Easy tutorial: drawstring bag

Drawstring bag: an easy tutorial
Hello and Happy Sunday!
Christmas is coming, are you feeling it? To be honest, I am not a big fan of Christmas, but these pretty drawstring purses are just perfect for this period of the year.
I have a tutorial for you and believe me, it's very easy and straightforward!
Are you ready to make a pretty drawstring bag? Here's what you need:
  • One piece of fabric 30 cm x 22 cm
  • One ribbon
  • Sewing machine
1) Cut your fabric;

2) Fold and iron the fabric in half; fold and iron  the sides about 2.5 cm, that's where the ribbon will go through. Sew along it.

3) Now, fold the fabric, right sides together and sew along the edges, but stop just before the edge of the fold.

4) Attach a safety pin to one end of the ribbon and slide it into the channel. Knot the ribbon at the length you want (I did it as close to the end as possible) and turn the bag inside out.

These make a perfect gift for Christmas! You can use them to put a little present to give to someone special.
I made three drawstring purses today, all different in size and fabric and they are all so pretty.
The tutorial above is for the medium sized drawstring bag, but you can actually use the length you want, it's so easy and quick to make!

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and now enjoy the many pictures following :)

Cute handmade make-up bag with African fabric

Here we go again!

Last week I managed to sew a new make-up bag with a beautiful African fabric I bought in Brixton.

I really like it and I can't wait to go back to the store and buy more fabric :)
Here some pictures of the make-up purse, I hope you'll like it!

Sewing machines

It's been one and a half month since my last post....I know, it's a long time, but, in my defence, I spend 8 hours in front of the computer every day in my new job and when I get home I don't really feel like switching on the computer again. On top of that, add that my sewing machine is still broken.....

Anyway, I have been looking everywhere for the missing piece for my sweing machine, I didn't have luck so far, but I did find a jewel in the heart of Brixton. It's an amazing shop that sells a huge variety of fabric at a very affordable price! I really had to make an effort not to buy all the fabrics I saw, because I would end up with a broken sewing machine and a room full of fabrics! I canĂ t wait to go back to sew my lovely little purses and make up bags....

The shop is called Simply Fabrics http://www.simplyfabrics.org.uk/ and it's really worth a visit if you're around.

I was looking for sewing machines on the internet, you know, just in case....and I found these lovely ones from Tula Pink:

My favourite is the first one, but I find all of them very cure.

I have to get ready, we are going to see a couple of flats today!

Ciao ciao

Shopping!

This is what I found when I arrived home after my short holiday to Italy...
Sweet surprise, I love flowers, he knows exactly what to do and how to do it :)

As I already mentioned in a previous post, I went shopping in Italy in a huge shop that sells all sorts of fabrics, buttons, zippers and everything you need to sew. It was like paradise!!

Can't wait to start using these!! :)
